Rolex introduced the first Submariner diver’s watch in the mid-1950s. At the time of its release, the Submariner was the first wristwatch in the brand’s catalog to offer waterproofness up to 100 meters. The line would evolve over the next several decades to offer an incredible 300-meter depth rating as well as a safer unidirectional timing bezel, a high-beat movement, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The ref. 16610 that you see here today is a popular variation of the Submariner that also includes a luminous display in white gold surrounds, creamy Tritium plots, a jump date, a Cyclops magnifier, and a flat-link bracelet secured by a folding Oysterlock clasp.
